A Pair of Arrests in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident
An additional two individuals have been arrested related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport where 21 people were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.
A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.
These detentions come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.
A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and have since been released.
Police arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.
Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals injured by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.
The assault - which authorities stated was isolated and not considered terrorism - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
